JUNGLE TREKKING

Rafflesia & Orangutan Trek

1 DAY

Rafflesia & Orangutan Trek

Rafflesia (Rafflesia arnoldii) is noted for producing the largest individual flower on earth. The plant has no stems, leaves or true roots.

Together with the Titan Arum (Amorphophallus titanum), the tallest flower in the world, they are known as corpse flower. Between march till december we usually can see them blooming. In this period it is rainy season, best conditions for the Rafflesia.

The trek will take place from Batu Katak (a traditional karonese village), via the Berkail river and follow upstream to the Gunung Leuser National Park to Bukit Kencur.

We can see them blooming during the rainy season – usually between March and December in several part of the national park area, like in Batu Katak – a traditional karonese village, from Berkail river and follow upstream to Gunung Leuser National Park, to Bukit Kencur.
